Frequently Asked Questions

I am having twins (or triplets). When should I come in for my 4D ultrasound?

We can obtain good 3D/4D pictures with multiples up until 28 weeks. Gender can still be determined starting at 14 weeks. There is no additional charge for multiples, but please call us to book so we can arrange a more extended time slot to see both babies.

Can I bring family and friends?

Yes, we have a large viewing room to accommodate your guests, and kids are welcome as well.

What if I do NOT want to know the gender of my baby?

No problem. We can keep it a secret! We can avoid the gender area altogether or write it down and seal it in an envelope. Please let us know before your session, and we will be happy to accommodate your requests.

Is there anything I can do to help get good images?

We recommend you have a sugary drink before your session. This will make sure baby is awake and active for the ultrasound!

What if my baby does not cooperate for the Ultrasound?

It’s okay! We offer a Come Back Free Guarantee- if your baby doesn't cooperate enough to see their face or gender, you can come back for a free re-scan. (Re-scans valid within 1 month of original appointment date)

Do I need a full bladder for my appointment?

No. You do not need to have a full bladder for this type of ultrasound or to obtain good pictures.

Is the ultrasound covered by Insurance or Flex spending?

No. Because all our ultrasounds are elective, they are not covered by insurance and may not be reimbursed with a flexible spending account.

What if the sonographer sees something wrong?

If the sonographer sees anything concerning during your scan, we will give that information directly to your doctor.

Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctor's office?

No. At no time is your ultrasound session at our facility to be used in place of diagnostic ultrasound. Women seeking an elective ultrasound with our studio MUST be receiving prenatal care from a healthcare provider and have already undergone a medical diagnostic ultrasound.

Does your facility use registered sonographers?

Yes. Every ultrasound session at Over the Womb is performed by a diagnostic medical sonographer that has been board registered.
